Explore Garden Island

A short boat ride brings you to 30 acres on Lake Champlain, where the shoreline, woods, and open meadow are all part of your stay. Settle into your camp, then see where the day takes you.

On the lake

Lake Champlain is more than a view from Garden Island. It’s where you can spend your whole day. Kayaks, a double kayak, paddleboards, a canoe, and a pedal boat are available for guests to use at no extra charge. Paddle around the island, swim from the beach, or bring your own boat for sailing, waterskiing, and exploring farther along the shore.

This is a lake with room to roam. It stretches roughly 120 miles from southern New York toward Québec, and the open water between Charlotte, VT and Essex, NY reaches depths of about 400 feet. Stay close to shore for an easy paddle, or head out onto the broad lake for a bigger adventure.

Bring a fishing rod, too. Bass and perch are found in this part of Lake Champlain, with lake trout in the deeper water nearby. Or leave the day unplanned and watch the light move across the lake toward the Adirondacks.

Around the island

Leave the water behind for a while and follow the wooded trails, cross the meadow, or find a quiet place to read by the shore.

Spend an afternoon at the sandy beach, gather for a picnic, or simply wander back to your camp when you’re ready.

The island gives you space to be together and room to do your own thing.

New York

“The possibilities for fun are endless… From water sports of all kinds to campfires and s'mores to enjoying the majestical views of the lake and the mountains. Or find a quiet place to read your book. It’s the perfect spot for a family vacation.”
